Thunder Struggle in the Second

Wheaton and RMU played a hard-fought game at the Edge II Ice Arena in Bensenville.  Wheaton jumped to an early lead from a Davis Melin goal, but an untimely penalty and a poor second period cost the Thunder that lead and then some, as Wheaton found themselves trailing 5-1 after the second period.  They were able to make up some ground in the third period, but ultimately fell short, finding themselves on the small end of a 7-4 final score.  There were certainly positives that the team was able to come away with, as they were able to post three goals in a period, and the power play went two for three on the night.  There was also a small, passionate, fan representation for the Thunder at RMU’s arena, which further shows that Wheaton by far has the best fans in the league.  Wheaton will play RMU again tonight in Bensenville, with puck drop coming at 8:30.  The Thunder will look to continue playing according to their successes in last night’s game, and come away with a W.
